Heritage Community of Kalamazoo has announced the public launch of its $9 million Thrive Together campaign, an initiative designed to expand access to care, enhance resident experience, and strengthen the long-term sustainability of senior living in Southwest Michigan.
A central component of the campaign is the development of 11 new affordable memory care apartments at Hawthorn Landing. This expansion addresses a growing regional need for specialized dementia care while increasing access for older adults who may not otherwise be able to afford these services.
In addition to memory care, the campaign includes investments in new wellness and engagement spaces that support physical health, social connection, and overall quality of life. These enhancements are designed not only to benefit residents, but also to contribute to stronger occupancy, increased length of stay, and a more resilient operating model.
Thrive Together also reinforces Heritage Community’s longstanding commitment to benevolent care. Through philanthropic support, residents who outlive their financial resources can continue to receive the care they need, ensuring stability for individuals and families while strengthening the organization’s mission.
The campaign reflects a broader shift within senior living, where providers are investing proactively to meet rising acuity levels, evolving resident expectations, and increasing integration with healthcare delivery models. By aligning mission-driven care with forward-looking investment, Heritage Community is positioning itself as a leader in the future of aging services.
With strong support from local foundations, financial institutions, and individual donors, Thrive Together represents a collective commitment to innovation, access, and quality in senior living across the region.
