The bulk of what Peregrine Company is today started as a hobby for its founder, Tom Huff. Born and raised in Kalamazoo, Tom witnessed the decline of the city’s downtown in the 1980s and desired to rejuvenate the area. After establishing a career as an attorney, Tom turned his passion for real estate into a way to spur economic development in the area with the creation of Peregrine Company. His vision included the development of loft apartments located over small businesses. Café Casa, located at 128 South Kalamazoo Mall, was his first development of this kind.

Over the years, Peregrine has taken great pride in being an integral part of Kalamazoo’s revitalization. Peregrine owns and operates 15 mixed-use buildings consisting of residential and commercial tenants. They are currently developing the Peregrine 100 and Square buildings, as well as planning for the future development of our International block located on the prominent corner of the Kalamazoo Mall and South Street.

As Peregrine continues to build upon Tom’s vision today, their team is growing and has been busy updating our systems and structures for better property management performance.

One of Peregrine’s recent highlights is the ability to welcome many new and exciting businesses to the downtown area such as Roka, The High Bar Kitchen and Bar, Pincanna, and Saugatuck Brewing Company, and they feel so lucky to have some of the best tenants in Kalamazoo!
