Where is the Most Rapid COVID Testing Available?

Share

Word on the street is that rapid-result COVID-19 testing is a hot commodity. Rapid COVID-19 antigen testing typically can provide results in as little as 30 minutes. In an article from the Wall Street Journal, it’s explained why this type of testing is very limited in availability right now—there are only two companies that produce the machine that yield the results. As officials continue to roll out this type of testing, importance is given to nursing homes, inpatient care, and other priority groups.

The FIRST & 42 team has heard rumors of its existence locally. After a but of digging, we can confirm the following: around here, rapid is still relative. In Kalamazoo, Western Michigan University’s (WMU) Sindecuse Health Center is offering rapid-result testing for students, faculty, and employees only. In Grand Rapids, Spectrum Health is offering rapid-result testing to inpatient care recipients only. If you’re looking to get your results fast, we recommend checking out the Michigan.gov COVID-19 testing locator to find a list of testing sites near you. For other helpful information, call the 211 help line by dialing 2-1-1 from any phone or the universal toll-free numbers at 1-844-875-9211. For semi-quick results, think three to five days, we’ve heard that Spectrum Health and Cherry Health in Grand Rapids or CVS Pharmacy locations have good response times. In Kalamazoo, the Family Health Center and Bronson Health Care Group are also options.

Got any other places you’ve heard of that are turning over rapid results? Let us know.
