A new service from Kalamazoo-based video production company Overneath lets businesses and individuals book a professional shoot or edit in minutes, with simple, rates and usable files in their portal in as little as 24 hours.
OnCall Content, a new hourly video, photo, drone and editing service from Kalamazoo production company Overneath, is now formally open to businesses and individuals across Southwest Michigan. Customers create a free account at oncallcontent.club, book a shoot (or an edit) online, and find their ready-to-use video, photos, and edits in their portal in as little as 24 hours. One simple, published rate of $90 to $125 an hour covers both shooting and editing.
The service is built for the gap between hiring a full production crew and DIY. Businesses are expected to post new video and photos constantly, and most end up doing it on a phone between other jobs, with results that never look quite the way they hoped. The alternative, a full production with a formal quote, a director, a producer and a multi-week timeline, is more than the everyday work calls for. OnCall Content sits in between: a product shoot, a grand opening, team headshots, an event, a testimonial, or the social clip that you need TODAY, shot by a professional and priced by the hour.
Drone coverage is included in every OnCall shoot at no extra cost, flown by FAA Part 107 licensed pilots.
The shoot process looks like this: A customer books an OnCall Shoot through the portal. A professional Creator, OnCall’s term for its videographers, photographers, and editors, arrives with a kit that covers both video and photo. This includes a cinema/photo camera, a gimbal, simple lighting, wireless microphones and a drone. All OnCall drones are flown by FAA Part 107 licensed pilots, and drone capture is included at no added cost. Shoots can be booked between one and four hours with additional time, after hours, and weekend work possible by special request. The footage and photos are then delivered to the customer’s portal in as little as 24 hours, ready to edit, post, or hand off as they are. Editing is the other half of the service. When a customer wants a finished video, a cut-down for social, or a set of retouched photos, they request an OnCall Edit in the portal, provide all the information, and OnCall Creators will craft the edit at the same hourly rate.
Pricing is simple and published on the site. Ad-Hoc shoots and edits are $125 an hour with a one-hour minimum. Businesses that want a steady stream of content can join the OnCall Content Club, an Hours Bank of discounted, prepaid hours: $110 an hour on a three-month plan, $100 on a six-month plan and $90 on a twelve-month plan. Joining is free, and the portal stays free whether or not a customer has hours in their bank.
“Most of this industry still runs on emails, quotes, phone calls and links. We wanted booking a shoot to feel like booking everything else you book online. Pick a time, see the price, and get your files back in one place. Not everyone has the skills or the time to make their own content, and not everyone has a friend or contact for this type of thing. This service fills that need for the quick, quality content that these local people and brands are looking for at a fair price,” said Gordon van Gent, co-owner of Overneath and OnCall Content.
One Creator, one kit: every OnCall shoot uses the same camera, lens, gimbal, monopod, light panel, two wireless lavs, a client monitor and a drone.
OnCall Content is based in Kalamazoo County and serves Southwest Michigan. While it was designed for small businesses and marketing teams, the service is open to anyone who needs professional photography or video, from nonprofits and schools to individuals booking senior pictures, family photos or product shots for an online store.
“We wanted to make booking video and photo services as easy as booking a rideshare. We wanted that same, easy, frictionless feeling. You simply log in, pick the time and place, and a trained pro shows up. Or if you need something edited, just log in to your portal, give us the details and the due date, and we get to work,” said Drew Raklovits, co-owner and creative director.
