Several regional partners played a key role in bringing the new Cass District Library’s Edwardsburg Branch to life. The $7 million, 5.4-acre facility celebrated its grand opening on February 27, 2026, marking the first new library built in Cass County since 1978 and representing a significant investment in the Edwardsburg community.

The project showcases strong regional collaboration. The Barton Group, a Southwest Michigan First Chamber member, provided construction leadership under Jennifer Sawyer, vice president, and Amelia Barker-King, principal. Architectural design for the modern facility was led by Arvin Delacruz of Abonmarche, a Southwest Michigan First Investor, with construction management services provided by Cornerstone Construction Management Inc. And special thanks to Market One, our economic development partner supporting community and economic growth in Cass and Van Buren Counties.
The new space is three times larger than the former branch. Inside, visitors will find a variety of welcoming amenities designed to serve residents of all ages. A standout feature is the cozy fireplace lounge, sponsored by Midwest Energy & Communications, another Southwest Michigan First Investor. The library also includes a children’s area with interactive spaces, a maker space with sewing machines, two meeting rooms, expanded parking, and Mimi’s Café, which offers coffee for visitors who want to relax while reading or working.

Jennifer Sawyer, vice president of The Barton Group; Ben Phelps, project manager, and Scott Muller, site superintendent, both of Cornerstone Construction Management; and Amelia Barker-King, principal of The Barton Group, gather outside the Cass District Library’s Edwardsburg Branch at the grand opening and community celebration on February 27, 2026.
The new Edwardsburg Branch replaces the former Church Street location and provides a modern hub for learning, creativity, and community gathering. Special thanks to everyone who was involved in creating a library that will serve Cass County residents for years to come.
