New Leaders Named at YMCA, Kalamazoo College

Two Kalamazoo institutions have announced new leaders who will help guide their organizations into their next chapters.

The YMCA of Greater Kalamazoo has named Ericia Moore as its new President and Chief Executive Officer. Moore will begin the role in mid-July and will be the first woman to lead the organization as CEO in its 160-year history.

Moore comes to Kalamazoo with more than 15 years of experience in the nonprofit world. She most recently served with YMCA of Florida’s First Coast, where her work focused on operations, social responsibility, afterschool programming, summer camp partnerships and philanthropic investment.

In her new role, Moore will help lead the YMCA’s next phase of community impact and regional growth. A key focus will be the organization’s “1 in 1 by 31” expansion plan, which aims to bring a YMCA program within one mile of every resident in its service area by 2031.

Kalamazoo College has also named new leadership, selecting Karlyn Crowley as its 19th president following a national search. Crowley, who currently serves as provost at Ohio Wesleyan University, will begin her role on July 1.

Crowley will succeed President Jorge G. Gonzalez, who is retiring June 30. At Ohio Wesleyan, Crowley helped lead academic initiatives tied to student success, new programs, faculty development and expanded career pathways.

Her background includes work in liberal arts education, strategic partnerships and student opportunity. Kalamazoo College leaders pointed to her collaborative leadership style and experience helping colleges adapt to the needs of today’s students.

Together, the announcements mark two important leadership transitions for organizations with deep roots in the Kalamazoo community. From youth development and wellness to higher education and student success, Moore and Crowley will step into roles that shape how local institutions serve the region in the years ahead.
