Good food, beer, and wine and a good cause are all on the menu during the Kalamazoo Valley Community College Foundation’s 2024 Opportunities for Education Scholarship Fundraising event on Thursday, Sept. 26, and the public is invited!

The event begins at 5:30 p.m. at the college’s Food Innovation Center at Kalamazoo Valley Community College, 224 E. Crosstown Parkway in downtown Kalamazoo.

The event will feature some of the region’s most popular restaurants, along with student and faculty chefs from Kalamazoo Valley’s culinary and brewing programs. Guests will enjoy a walk-around tasting under a large tent where they can sample signature dishes. Students in the Sustainable Agriculture program will offer tours of the vegetables, flowers, and herbs growing in the Food Innovation Center’s greenhouse and grounds.

This fundraising event helps the KVCC Foundation provide scholarships for students with financial needs. Support of the event helps to make a difference in the lives of students like Sara Stermer, who received a scholarship last semester.

“Because of caring people like you, I am able to attend college and have enough money to buy the things needed to do so and also contribute to the costly expenses of supporting a family,” Stermer says. “This scholarship means so much to me because I am a mother of four very young children, which makes it difficult to work. This scholarship does so much for my family and I cannot thank you enough!”
