Patriot Engineering and Environmental is seeking a regional business development manager for Northern Indiana, Southern Michigan, and Northwest Ohio markets. Headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, Patriot Engineering and Environmental is an employee-owned, diverse engineering firm with multi-state locations and presence providing geotechnical, environmental, and construction materials testing services and consultation to commercial, industrial, and governmental clients. This position will be based remotely out of Northern Indiana or Southern Michigan and be responsible for geotechnical, environmental, and construction materials testing sales throughout Northern Indiana, Southern Michigan, and the Northwest Ohio region.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter with a demonstrated track record of sales success in the engineering consulting industry and a proven ability to initiate new relationships and maintain existing relationships with clients. This role will contribute to the successful launch and sustainability of our recent Kalamazoo, Michigan office by providing sales support to the southern and southwest Michigan area. In addition, this candidate will oversee sales across the Northern Indiana and Northwest Ohio region to support our Fort Wayne, Indiana office. The successful candidate will thrive on being an integral and collaborative part of the team growing Patriot’s future through their time, attention, and actions to build a pipeline of work and sustaining client base.
Essential Functions:
Regional Business Development Manager Duties
• Represent Patriot, its core values, services, and staff with the highest level of ethics and integrity.
• Leadership and accountability of business development and sales strategies, plans, and activities as well as client and community relationships.
• Initiate, lead, and sustain connections and value-added conversations with economic development professionals, architects, engineers, developers, owners, contractors, municipalities, and attorneys to represent Patriot’s full breadth of services.
• Source, develop, and close deals.
• Add value to clients by providing dual-benefit solutions, linking to other business drivers, bringing efficiencies to projects, and suggesting ways to achieve regulatory compliance/best practice.
• Responsible for sustaining and improving relationships with clients, including the expectation to cross-market or refer other Patriot services – providing support in securing new clients and opportunities for the growth of the firm.
• Work directly with the business development/marketing team, practice leads, branch managers, owners, and staff to understand, coordinate, and deliver Patriot’s business development objectives.
• Manage and participate in industry events, trade shows, and business development functions to represent Patriot.
Qualifications
• 5+ years of demonstrated experience selling GEO, CME, and ENV consulting services, or equivalent experience preferred. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Proven track record of successful networking and marketing skills indicating ability to build and maintain relationships and connect with industry leaders.
• Ability to listen to understand the needs of prospective and current clients and align those with Patriot’s array of professional services.
• Excellent time management skills – understanding and setting priorities to realize value-added and focused activities and deliverables.
• Excellent listening and communication skills.
• Demonstrated success in planning and realizing stated sales plan/goals.
• Demonstrated professionalism, energy, and enthusiasm as a company representative.
