Wightman is seeking a Survey Project Manager for our newly renovated Allegan office. This is primarily an office role, however, an ideal candidate would be able to perform all fieldwork if needed. Boundary calculations, construction staking set up, experience drafting with Civil 3D, and project management skills are requested.

Essential Functions

  • Prepare and maintain drawings, maps, reports and legal descriptions of surveys
  • Review survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites
  • Provide direction and support for field staff in conducting surveys
  • Download and convert field survey data into CAD drawing
  • Perform survey calculations for property boundaries
  • Perform all aspects of field survey operations if needed
  • Prepare data, drawings, plots, maps, records and documents related to surveys
  • Write descriptions of property boundaries for use in deeds or other legal documents
  • Search legal records, survey records, and land titles in order to obtain information about property boundaries in areas to be surveyed
  • Analyze survey objectives and specifications in order to prepare survey proposals or to direct others in survey proposal preparation
  • Support and mentor field survey staff
  • Manage survey projects from start through finish

Required Skills and Behaviors 

  • Proficient in Auto CAD and Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of survey equipment
  • Project management skills
  • Good communication and writing skills
  • Highly motivated and team-oriented

Organizational Relationship

  • Reports directly to Survey Manager

Required Education/Experience

  • 5+ years’ experience in surveying High School diploma or its equivalent


  • 10-25% local travel
