Job Summary

The Marketing Director is responsible for the company’s marketing and portfolio strategy. The Marketing Director also leads, manages, and holds the Marketing team accountable.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Hire, train, evaluate employee performance and recommend or initiate promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action within the Marketing team
  • Plan, develop, recommend, and implement changes to the Marketing department
  • Create weekly schedules for the Marketing team and review the time clock for approval
  • Oversee and assist in planning company Trade Shows and launching and developing brands
  • Offer expert advice to develop innovative advertising, public relations, social media, and events
  • Develop and implement marketing plans, including promotional calendars and programs, new product introductions, and other marketing projects
  • Maintain key supplier relationships
  • Maximize company profitability
  • Develop pricing strategies for products
  • Work collaboratively with chain team and suppliers on tools and resources needed to drive sales programming for on and off-premise key customers
  • Work with marketing and sales team on brand initiatives
  • Set and manage marketing strategy
  • Prepare and analyze department budget to identify budget needs and/or reductions
  • Sign supplier contracts
  • Attend product tastings, sales meetings, conferences, and trade shows, as required
  • Stay up-to-date on new products and the changing needs of the market
  • Additional duties and responsibilities to be determined

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent education and experience) in Marketing, Communications, Sales or related field
  • 3+ years’ experience in marketing and communications
  • 3+ years’ experience in management
  • Advanced knowledge of beer, wine, and spirits
  • 21 years of age or older
  • Strong negotiating skills
  • Strong analytical skills and numeric ability
  • Ability to provide creative direction
  • Leadership skills to direct employees and oversee department operations
  • Intermediate Adobe Suite Skills, including Adobe Illustrator
  • Notable web development background with working knowledge and functional understanding of WordPress
  • Must possess superior communication and customer service skills, confidentiality, and professionalism
  • Ability to create positive relationships
  • Decision-making skills to decide the best course of action, especially when impacting employees
  • Self-starter, highly motivated with a high productivity level
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to attain a Michigan Liquor Control Commission license
  • Occasional travel required
  • Ability to coordinate processes and work well with various departments
  • Design portfolio available to showcase skills preferred
